Sha！low charactersThere was very little character development。 I did not feel invested in either one。 The Prince was a shallow playboy and Brit just never fully got off the ground。 The ending seemed rushed and somewhat impossible。

I *adore* this world and was so excited to read this！ I loved this except for one really huge problem: the characterization of the antagonists in this book is really racist （having the head of the antagonists be named Roma is really anti-Romani and having Roma and her people be creatures that feed off the dying or newly dead while wearing feathers and face paint is really anti-Indigenous）。 I let some things slide with indie authors as they have way fewer resources than their traditionally publis I *adore* this world and was so excited to read this！ I loved this except for one really huge problem: the characterization of the antagonists in this book is really racist （having the head of the antagonists be named Roma is really anti-Romani and having Roma and her people be creatures that feed off the dying or newly dead while wearing feathers and face paint is really anti-Indigenous）。 I let some things slide with indie authors as they have way fewer resources than their traditionally published counterparts （sometimes） have access to， but this was too far。 The banter and characterization of everything and everyone else was amazing but this was really jarring。 I really really hope this was a massive oversight and not Annabel Chase's prejudice leaking through。 I think many of us that adore her books would be happy to be sensitivity readers to prevent things like this happening and so that this wonderfully world she created is not tainted with racist stereotypes。 。。。more
